Gender Roles

As I can see the gender roles has changed dramatically.  When I was growing up in Chicago in the 1960's women was raised to take care of her husband make sure his clothing and food and household was taken care of neatly.  The women was not allowed to be employed.  They full purpose was to make sure that the man was happy.  The only job or if you can call it a job was to get involved in Church organizations and PTA's and any women clubs that were available.

The father taught his son how to become successful and to group up powerful.  They could not and should not show any weakness and they are valued over women.  The daughters was not given the same benefit as the son.  They were not taught to suceed in school they were not taught to persue an career they were shown how to cook and clean and take care of a home.

In the 20th Century women roles has changed drastically women now are drive to succeed in school and to persue different careers.  Now women are supervisors and managers over their male counterparts.  they are in roles of decision making and company grown.  Women are now more in politics and are in political top positions now more than ever before.  Women are now more intellectual are caring than men are.

"The shifting of gender roles in the past 30 years has been huge. It has happened so quickly that men and women are still trying to sort out what the new roles and rules mean to them. Although women are no longer expected to be thekeepers of the house, in reality, they are in most families. Although men aregenerally open to the successes enjoyed by the women they share their liveswith, some still find it hard to celebrate a woman's triumphs because they feel it diminishes their own."

It's had to even think that gender equality would ever exist if you are a young lady when you had a father that was dominate over your mother.  It's quite not what you would ever think.  But it can be done.

Even now we have present and past Presidents that are hiring women in important positions in their cabinets.  It shows that women are gaining the respect that they desire.  But the fight is not over.  The sex wars has enslaved us all.
